Political Family (also called as political dynasty) refers to a family which several members are involved in politics.
How is political dynasty established in a country? A political dynasty is established in two instances. First, when an elected government official is succeeded by a member of his household up to the first degree of consanguinity or affinity. Second, when several members of a family occupy various positions in government simultaneously.
In the Philippines, political dynasties refer to groups of politicians who come from the same family. The group in question is usually associated with a certain province or city, which members of the family have led or represented for successive generations. As of the moment, there are no legal documents or laws that officially define a political dynasty in the Philippines.
